Frisco Information
In Dallas’ early development, and settlement by American pioneers, cattle was driven north along the Shawnee Trail, later called the Preston trail. Later this trail became Preston Road. With the traffic coming north a community sprung up called Lebanon. Due to the communities elevation, it was not suitable for a watering hole. For this reason, the watering hole was placed four miles to the west on lower ground. Due to this the settlers moved from Lebanon do to the lower ground. The original name for this area was to be Emerson, but this name was rejected because it was too close to another cities name in Texas. Hence this area was later called Frisco, in honor of the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway.
