We have recently become members of the better business bureau here at Web Services DFW. While the referral business is great we a running into more and more businesses who are being deceived by other SEO companies. So I felt a blog post was in order on this topic. How do you as a company protect yourself against SEO irresponsibility? I recently started working for a new small business who was using a national SEO company and they had been paying hundreds of dollars per month for a few years for services. After paying 100.00 per day to Google AdWords this year, they finally started looking for someone else to help them. When we got their account the home page was optimized 6% for their main keyword… The keyword they asked the company to optimize the page for. How can a company stay in business treating customers this way. They basically just took money, monthly and did nothing for it. The home page is sprinkled with 9 sets of keywords like someone had no idea how to create a direction, or a marketing plan, no landing pages or any type of strategy. So the customer looses twice, as they pay for SEO and AdWords for months and struggle during a difficult economy. So how do you avoid this? Maybe you don’t know anything about SEO, marketing, site design, conversion, analytics or optimization. How do you do your due diligence with SEO firms? Be involved Ask what the strategy is Will landing pages be created, if so get the URL’s Ask for page optimization results Check their content changes and readability If you don’t get the answers you feel are correct, then you may need to check your services. Is it true it can take up to 6 months to get ranked on the first page? Yes, it can or more. This is true and all the more reason to do your homework before you spend money with a company not giving you answers you feel are ‘correct’. The reason for this would be hi competition for the keywords you are after. The more sites that are after that keyword phrase in your local area or nationwide if you are national, the more you will need to match their efforts. That’s more difficult and requires more tweaking. Read next week when we discuss looking for less competitive keywords to build your traffic. We will also discuss the importance of writing your copy to convert traffic to leads or sales.

What kind of traffic is your real estate web site doing? Do you spend time looking at Google Analytics, do you try to optimize pages for keyword placement? Do you check those keywords to see what traffic or competition they have? If you answered yes to any other these questions, this article is for you. Search engine positioning, search engine placement, search engine optimization, the process goes by several names but basically, it is getting your web site ranked higher than others on the search engines, Google, Yahoo, Bing and others. It is a very difficult process but there is a formula and with the tools I use to analyze your web-sites data, I can get you better ranking. Keyword Analysis: This is the process of looking up keywords and finding targeted phrases to being your site traffic. So you already do this and maybe you spend some money monthly on Google Adwords. Great! Did you know you could probably get those results organically? Did you know there are probably many other keywords we could ‘stack’ on your existing keywords and get secondary rankings? This is why SEO work needs to be done by SEO professionals who have the required know how and also the experience to ensure that they not only cover the areas that the business owner has overlooked or is not aware of, but they also provide a more professional service. They know what is required to get the desired results and accordingly will go after keywords focused to bring in quantified traffic. Lastly, a proffesional SEO firm will also help the clients close the traffic into sales or leads so that the increase in traffic also means an increase in ROI. It is exspensive! But I have called a few SEO companies around town and it is exspensive with no guarantee of results. Most SEO firms want 300 dollars just to look at my site. WB Consulting is different, we will provide you with a free consultation and give you quality feedback on what we can do for your real estate business. Usually, we can get you ranked in the top 5 on Google for somewhere in the ball park of 700 – 1000 dollars. Even if this just brought you three clients, this is worth the price in ROI. But we know that getting top 5 ranking on Google will bring you much more than this. Not only will we help you get the ranking you need, we will also talk to you about your sites ability to convert traffic to leads. If you are currently getting 3000 – 4000 hits a month from unique visitors, but only convert 3-4 to contacts, something is wrong. Either your site is difficult to navigate, or it is not solving yor clients ‘problems’. You have to think like your customer! your customer is coming to the web looking for a solution, not a real estate agent. Your site needs to be the best solution for them. We can...

Okay so most of you on this site are Real Estate Agents and web development is probably not your primary job function. You sit at the PC late nights and early mornings doing a little tweaking here and there, maybe some SEO work as you have time. You cannot always afford professional help from WB Consulting, we understand. But, there are tools out there that can help you dramatically speed up your ‘tweaking’ process in what little time you have to do it. That tool is called Firebug. Here is a quick little tutorial on how to use Firebug and what it can do for you. Firebug 101 Okay so, what is Firebug, without re-inventing the wheel here, below is a description of Firebug from Wikipedia. Firebug is a web development tool that facilitates the debugging, editing, and monitoring of any website’s CSS, HTML, DOM, and JavaScript; it also provides other web development tools. Firebug’s JavaScript panel can log errors, profile function calls, and enable the developer to run arbitrary JavaScript. Its net panel can monitor URLs that the browser requests, such as external CSS, JavaScript, and image files. The net panel can display both request headers and response headers for each page asset; it can also estimate the time each asset took to load. Firebug is free and open source; it is licensed under the BSD license. Firebug was initially written in January 2006 by Joe Hewitt, one of the original Firefox creators. The Firebug Working Group oversees the open source development and extension of Firebug. Firebug has two major implementations: an extension (add-on) for Mozilla Firefox and a bookmarklet implementation called Firebug Lite. A cross-browser version is in development. Currently, the Firebug add-on has over 3 million active daily users. In addition to debugging web pages, Firebug is a useful tool for web security testing and web page performance analysis. Get Firefox and Install Firebug – in 5 minutes or Less Okay so now that you know what it is, and that it is only compatible with Firefox, we need to be sure you have Firefox. As a web developer, hopefully you already have Firefox, IE, Safari, Chrome and even Oprah, yes Oprah is a browser (http://www.opera.com/) not to be confused with Harpo’s Oprah :). To get Firefox, simply open your favorite browser, and Google Firefox or Mozilla Firefox. Download it and install the latest version. No images here sorry, if you are tweaking sites in your spare time, you can handle this ;). So now that you have Firefox installed, how do you get Firebug you ask, easy? Simply open Firefox if you don’t already have it open and click on ‘Tools’ then ‘Add-Ons’. You should see a page like this one below, image-01. image – 01 At the top right of this page you see the Search all add-on’s area, type in Firebug. Once you find it, simply click on Install and if it says it needs to Restart Firefox, allow it to do so, click...

source – all things digital With the iPhone 4S arriving at market today, the never-sated Apple rumor mill is clamoring for more grist. And, as always, there’s plenty of it to be had, this time involving the iPad 3. According to Susquehanna Financial analyst Jeff Fidacaro, the device is headed into production. Supply chain checks suggest to Fidacaro that Apple is ramping up its fourth-quarter iPad builds to between 12 and 14 million, from between 11 million and 13 million. And, importantly, that upward adjustment is due in part to an early iPad 3 production run. “Since our last month supply chain checks we are now seeing 600,000 to one million iPad 3 builds showing up on the plan for the fourth quarter of calendar 2011,” Fidacaro told AllThingsD. “Our previous estimate did not include any iPad 3s.” So preparations for Apple’s next big product launch are already under way, presumably with an eye toward an early 2012 launch — March, perhaps — the same month Apple uncrated the iPad 2. Incidentally, Fidicaro believes Apple shipped 11.5 million iPads in the third quarter and will likely ship 13 million in the fourth.

So you have a web site and you diligently watch your analytics for traffic trends, monitor your keywords, and landing pages as a good business owner should. But have you heard of the long tail keyword phrase? Targeting Traffic / Leads Hopefully if you run a web site you spend a little time each week (minimal) looking at your keywords and monitoring your pages that target these keywords. If you don’t, that’s a whole other post :). Are these pages getting better ranking over time, are you tweaking these pages? If not, spend a little time working on these pages every month. Make a spreadsheet and keep track of the keyword you are targeting and the pages rank. Take a low ranking page and try something new like adding more keyword weight to the top of the page, or middle, make notes in your spreadsheet and monitor the pages movement. Funneling Traffic / Leads Do you funnel traffic on a path to closing the deal? In other words, if you are a real estate agent and you have a page optimized for a city, then neighborhood, do you funnel that client into a lead? For Example: When your customer lands on the optimized page, in this case, a page talking about a suburb in your city and how wonderful living in this suburb is, do you then funnel them to the next step, maybe housing price ranges in this suburb. This gets them one step closer to a lead, you are moving them closer to the money :). Lastly, close them by then moving them to a page talking about your services and why you are better than other agents in your area. Maybe you live in this suburb and know it better than anyone else. Better yet, split them off at this point and find out if they have children, are married, single, ect. How do you do this? List the benefits of living in this area, activities, exemplary schools, townhomes in the area, condos, ect. All these links would lead to a page specifically designed to close the single parent, married couples, families or single business people. All letting you speak to a specific group and ‘target’ your client. This is much easier than having a page that has to try to talk to everyone. Your Blog Can Help More Than you Know Okay back to the topic at hand, keywords. So you have a spreadsheet now with a list of keywords and the landing pages they are targeting. But do you have a blog? If you don’t, start one now. Blogs can help you more than you know by bringing in traffic on keywords you never thought of. If you really spend time looking over your analytics and you have a blog, you might find some interesting information. Finding New Keywords Long tail keywords, these are the keywords that don’t show up on keyword research tools, they simply are too long or too random. But they will...

Every article you will find about making your site or company successful would always include the importance of generating traffic. So, we all know that in the core of it all, traffic is the most essential thing to a successful Internet based business company. Aside from ensuring that you have a great product to sell, and you have your company’s internal organization well taken core of, it would be time to get to the nitty gritty of things, generating traffic. If you already have a site and you want think that you’re not getting the traffic that you’re supposed to be getting, then its time to reconsider. If you are contending in these very competitive business, you should always be a step ahead of your competition, increasing your traffic flow should have been done starting yesterday. Never think of today and tomorrow as a starting point for making your site traffic laden, it should always have been yesterday. To help you out in generating more traffic for your site, here are some seven surefire ways to increase your traffic starting from yesterday. 1) Invest in good advertising with search engines Google’s Adwords and Yahoo’s Overture provide great advertising schemes that are very truly popular and assures great traffic.
When talking about design across-the-board, it’s harder to define what is the best based on a singular standard, as compared to deciding which is more aesthetically pleasing than the other. After all, like most human creations, there may be no exact definition or standard to define or embody perfect design at any cost, especially given the subjective perspective by which each individual may look upon any object. However, there is such a thing coined by many as optimal web design. Optimal, by virtue of its definition alone, already means the most favorable or desired form of any particular subject. This then translates to what is optimal web design—which is web design that best suits the tastes of the greater majority, while at the same time working within the feasibility constraints of any undertaking. What then makes web design optimal? Web design is optimal when it seeks to provide maximum utility to users while providing business or operational viability. In this way, the designer is able to best provide for the demand of both the end consumers as well as the people who plan and conceptualize for the purpose of deriving profit. Putting the end users in mind is another means in order to emphasize what’s in every web designer’s mind—friendlier usability for each and every user. This means taking into consideration the fact that people visit websites in order to find particular content; therefore, it is imperative that the content must always take the precedence over any other accents and extraneous designs or artwork. The more effective web designers are not afraid to make use of white backgrounds, or generally very clean lines in their website. By limiting the use of unrelated pictures that may even cause loading the page to take longer, and adding in very integral elements like the title and an outline of the contents of the page, it brings attention back to the content over anything else. Pictures, unless completely necessary, should be used sparingly. When it would take longer than usual to load due to the size or the volume of pictures, it is recommended to forewarn users so that they may opt out of viewing pictures and instead proceed to seeking content they need. Moreover, advertisements and their placements, when possible, must be planned so that while they will serve their purpose, they will also in no way cause distraction or distaste to the visitors of the website. Moreover, navigation is made consistent and simple in order to make accessing content as simple and as easy as possible. After all, who’s to say if everyone who surfs the Internet have the same capacities to grasp and decipher navigational tactics and the like. Integrate into the design a means through which each and every visitor may have access to basic information about the website and its proponents (usually in the ‘About’ page), as well as a means of access to the privacy statement of the company. After all, the latter has played a big role...

There are a lot ways to get more views to your videos on YouTube, but unless and until you put in targeted and consistent effort to actually take action on these methods, they won’t work. By applying the following rules, you can easily start getting more views to your YouTube videos. Use Your Blog to Showcase Videos: While it’s great to have videos on YouTube, you can get more publicity and traffic if you also upload them to your own blog. Placing videos on your blog will add appeal for your readers, as many people like to watch videos in addition to reading any written content. You can easily embed your YouTube videos into your blog posts so that more of your readers are able to view your videos, spread them around, subscribe to your channel, etc. You shouldn’t overlook this idea if you don’t presently have a blog; rather, you should consider it one of many good reasons to start a blog now. There are many free blogging platforms out there where you can sign up and start blogging right away. YouTube and a blog can work very well together, as both are favored platforms for ranking in the search engines, and using them together is even better. It is clear that promotions for example Chris Mentor Me will take advantage of this sort of marketing. Add Thumbnails that are Fascinating: This is one strategy that never lets you down when you are trying to get targeted attention on YouTube. If you pay make sure to use thumbnails for your videos that are persuasive and fascinating, you will see that a greater number of people will actually watch your video. Because more than 70 percent of video views happen because of Related Videos you should always be confident that you are using appropriate thumbnails of your videos. Nonetheless, this definitely does not mean that you should be deluding or misinforming your prospective viewers with a thumbnail that shows an image totally unrelated to your video. The worst thing to do on YouTube is to disrupt your reputation by taking a loss in the trust of your viewers. You should be honest and transparent in your approach in every possible way so that your viewers appreciate you and your efforts, rather than blame you for breaching their trust. When it comes to social media sites, like YouTube, it is essential to win the trust of your target audience. These tips can help you broaden your knowledge on subjects for example Massive Traffic Ultimatum Review. Ask Your Viewers a Question: In order to have widely watched videos on YouTube, it helps to provoke some kind of response on the part of viewers. One way to do this is to entice the curiosity of your viewers and get them engaged to a certain extent, so that they are forced to comment on your video and recommend it to their friends. The simplest way to do this is to ask a question or...

When you have an established domain name with a good web hosting company, it is easy to get reports on your traffic and which of your pages your clients are visiting most often, as well as many other statistics. Your website host will charge you a charge for monthly service that goes from $10 or $20 to the more pricey $50.00 per month. Plan to pay between $300 and $500 per year to your website host. Always avoid free or extremely inexpensive web hosting services, because you may experience bouts of server downtimes and you are likely to have significant limitations in storage, number of e-mails, FTP upload etc. Be sure your internet host can accommodate ebusiness and storefronts, wireless capacity, bogs, forums, chats, online interactive helps and anything else you want to add onto your site Estimate what your growth desires are and make sure that this website host can serve you as you grow. The very last thing you want to do is change host mid way unless you completely have to do so. Check your bandwidth capacity to be completely sure that, if your internet site traffic grows rapidly, your customers won't have to attend to download or view information. 3 things to have a look for in a web hosting company are: 1. Glorious Buyer Support: Your hosting supplier should be there for you 24/7 and give you quick access to the specialists you want to solve your problem. Ask them how long it takes for them to usually make a response to your problem. A good test is to call them in the mid night to test if you get to a live, level 3 support. 2. A Sound Infrastructure: Check whether or not they offer a multi-homed network powered by multiple bandwidth suppliers to guarantee redundancy. Some provide a 100% guarantee on its network availability or network uptime. 3. Fiscal Soundness: If you're running extraordinarily imperative operations, you can’t afford to be with a hosting company that may not be in business in a few months.
